SO hard to get excited for this movie.
It's like Charlotte's Web or something.
So low risk and might actually be a critical darling but she is not risking anything by being in the film and it is a mom role, what seems to be a generic one at that.
So I think the Wife 22 and the ADX projects seem fake.
and the only possible project after Wonder is the Train Man.
At this point, I won't mind if the movie is a white savior kind of movie. As long as it is tasteful.

yes, it looks like a generic mom role. on wikipedia the list of characters for this movie includes like 20 names and the mother is not one of them - go figure how many scenes julia will have in it.

and this will probably be the last role before she hits 50. the chances of seeing her in a romcom are definitely over :-(

the release date is not awards-friendly and not very good for box office. i think this could be a decent movie but it won't definitely do anything fot julia's career, it's not "her" movie and people will hardly know she's in it.

boring.
let's hope she shoots another lancome commercial soon - at least she's leading in them lol

oh I forgot Fool Me Once. I think that is bound to follow suit of many a projects that never saw the light of day, at least not with Julia.

maybe she will produce it and it will star someone else.

Participant, Walden Joining Julia Roberts’ Drama ‘Wonder’

Participant Media and Walden Media have joined TIK Films and Lionsgate’s drama “Wonder,” starring Jacob Tremblay, Julia Roberts and Owen Wilson.

Todd Lieberman and David Hoberman will produce the Mandeville Films production. Participant and Walden will co-finance and executive produce the film, which will be released on April 7.

Also starring are Noah Jupe, Bryce Gheisar, Izabela Vidovic, Danielle Rose Russell, Millie Davis, Elle McKinnon, recent Tony Award-winner and “Hamilton” co-star Daveed Diggs and Mandy Patinkin.

Tremblay is starring as August Pullman, who was born with facial differences that prevented him from going to a mainstream school earlier in life — and then became an unlikely hero when he entered the local fifth grade.

Roberts plays Tremblay’s mother in the adaptation of Raquel J. Palacio’s novel and Wilson will portray the father.

Stephen Chbosky is directing from a script by Jack Thorne and Steve Conrad. Palacio’s book has sold more than 2 million copies since it was published in 2012.

Diggs, who had his last performance in “Hamilton” on Friday, joined the cast last week. Production on “Wonder” began on Monday.

Julia and her kids are probably fans of the book and of Tremblay. I am sure she's doing it for them.

Sonia Braga Playing Julia Roberts' Mother in 'Wonder' (Exclusive)

Sonia Braga has joined Julia Roberts and Jacob Tremblay in Wonder, Lionsgate’s adaptation of the R.J. Palacio YA novel now in production in Vancouver.

Stephen Chbosky (The Perks of Being a Wallflower) is directing the heartwarming drama.

The story sees Tremblay, who had a breakout performance as the young star of Room opposite Brie Larson, playing a young boy who was born with a facial deformity and how he and his family deal as he enters a mainstream school for the first time.

Roberts is playing the boy’s mother. Braga, in turn, will play Roberts’ mother.

Among the cast are Owen Wilson, Mandy Patinkin, and Hamilton star Daveed Diggs.

Braga, the Brazilian actress who broke through Stateside with 1985’s Kiss of the Spider Woman, recently starred in Aquarius, a drama that was nominated for the Palm d’Or at the Cannes Film Festival and will appear in Netflix’s Marvel show, Luke Cage.

She is repped by Untitled and Schreck Rose.

I love Braga :). But between her and Wilson, I don't know what to think.

just finished the book and i think julia's role is good. the story is very good. i think this will center on the kids' storylines but if it remains faithful to the book, julia's role will be bigger than we all expect. almost all her scenes are interior in the book so maybe that explains why we havent seen many filming pics of her.

In a pre-Berlin Film Festival move, Participant Media has selected Lionsgate to represent the international rights to Participant’s upcoming slate of narrative feature films and select documentaries.

The deal will cover Participant films in all territories outside of North America. Lionsgate will initially introduce two Participant films to buyers at the European Film Market in Berlin next month: Jose Padilha’s “Entebbe” and Rupert Wyatt’s sci-fi thriller “Captive State.”

“Entebbe” stars Rosamund Pike, Daniel Bruhl, and Eddie Marsan. “Captive State” is set in a Chicago neighborhood nearly a decade after it has been occupied by an extraterrestrial force.

Participant said it plans to provide Lionsgate with up to five narrative films annually, along with several documentary features. The companies are already partnered on the upcoming drama “Wonder,” starring Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson, and Jacob Tremblay.

do you think this movie is high-profile enough to get an ad during the superbowl commercials?
maybe that's why they are waiting so long...

This movie's marketing strategy is unclear to me. I hope it is a big deal.

Oof: Julia has probably a new friend, Mandy Paitinkin is in Wonder and Smurfs. Maybe he got her the part of the old ugly smurfette LOL.
