Yeah the last trimester of 2013 was a little difficult for us, with a lot of doubts but we survived lol. But seriously, I was optimistic from the beginning and predicting nominations with you guys was a lovely and unforgetable experience, we waited more than a decade to live this.
Win or not win, let's enjoy Julia walking red carpets, changing dresses, hairstyles, present and be presented and why not winning :D

Julia Roberts, Allison Janney, Chandra Wilson Big Winners at 18th Annual Prism Awards

"Scandal," "Elementary," "Blue Bloods," and "Nurse Jackie" were among the shows honored for their depictions of mental illness and substance use.

A who's who in television and entertainment came together at the Skirball Cultural Center on Tuesday to recognize authentic depictions of mental health and substance abuse.

Allison Janney, who won for best performance in a comedy series for her role in CBS' Mom, told The Hollywood Reporter that she's grateful that her series covers so many important social issues. "I wasn’t afraid to jump into the world of addiction and recovery, because it's an issue that's near to me."

Presented by the Entertainment Industries Council, the Prism Awards honor writers, producers, directors and actors for their depictions of mental illness and substance use issues in movies and television. According to the National Alliance on Mental Illness (NAMI), one in four adults, approximately 61.5 million Americans, experiences mental illness in a given year.

Most of the talent on Tuesday's red carpet agreed that social issues like mental illness and drug use certainly hit close to home. Jaclyn Betham from The Haves and Have Nots (OWN) said the Prism Awards bring an important awareness. "I was anorexic growing up and I had to go to rehab and people don't realize that addiction and mental illness is a sickness. Whether it's drug addiction or anorexia, schizophrenia or bipolar. Whatever the issue, it should be treated as a sickness and not frowned upon," she told THR.

"For most of us, you don't have to look very far to find someone who’s really struggling with alcohol addiction, drug abuse or mental illness, said actress Nikki DeLoach from MTV’s Awkward. DeLoach told THR she has family members on both sides who have battled with their own personal struggles.

Attendees at last night’s event also included Octavia Spencer, Anthony Anderson, Lea Thompson, Robert Patrick, Alicia Witt, Katie Linder, Tasha Smith, Tim Matheson, Alison Haislip, Brody Stevens, Greer Grammer and Ernie Hudson.

The feature film performance award went to Julia Roberts for her role in August: Osage County, but she was not able to accept the honor in person.

The Prism Awards hosted by Dr. Drew Pinsky will air nationally on FX in September during National Recovery Month.
